Registration Help for Instructors
How to request access
- Return to the MyCompLab home page.
- In the "Register or Buy Access" box, click Instructors.
- Click I need to request access.
- Click Login.
- Choose the option that best describes your institution (e.g., “Two- or four-year college or university”).
- Enter your email address in the fields provided.
- Select Yes, Agree to Terms.
- Fill out the required fields in Step 3 of 3, and click Submit. Your request will be submitted to Pearson for validation to ensure your status as an instructor. If your request is approved, an access code will be sent to the email address you provided.
How to register an instructor access code
- Return to the MyCompLab home page.
- In the "Register or Buy Access" box, click Instructors.
- Click I already have an access code.
- Click I accept after reading the Pearson License Agreement and Privacy Policy.
- Do you have a Pearson Education account?
- If Yes – Fill in your login name and password (TIP! You can use the same login in and password that you are using for your other Pearson products.
- If No – Create a login and password per the guidelines provided.
- If Not Sure – Enter your email address and click Search.
- Enter your access code and click Next.
- Enter or select the required information in the appropriate fields.
- Review and print your Confirmation and Summary page (a confirmation will also be sent to your email address). TIP! Be sure to take note of your login name and password—write them down or save them on your computer in a place you will not forget.

Getting Started
For your students
Provide your students with the following information to help them register for MyCompLab:
- If a student redeems the access card packaged with the textbook, they will need:
- Your school's ZIP code.
- The course’s MyCompLab Course ID
- If student buys access online, he or she will need:
- Your school’s ZIP code
- The Course ID for your MyCompLab course
- Your product version — MyCompLab generic (no eBook) or MyCompLab with eBook.Textbook information — Including author, title, and edition.

How to log in
- Return to the MyCompLab home page.
- In the "Returning Users" box, click Log In.
- Enter your Login name and Password in the fields provided.
- Click Login.

How to create a course
- Follow the Login instructions above.
- Click Create a Course.
- Step 1 -- Choose your course type
- Use either the MyCompLab generic course or a book-specific (eBook) version (this is the most popular choice).
- Copy or link to a course from your course list (you can copy or link to one of your existing courses).
- Copy or link to a course from the public course list (allows you to copy or link to other instructors' courses).
- Depending on your choice in Step 1, find the product or course to copy or link to. Then select the product or course and click Continue.
(TIP! View all courses in a list or search by author, ISBN or title.)
- Step 2 – Define your settings.
- Enter a course title.
- Enter a section name.
- Enter the course start date.
- Enter the end date. (NOTE! Your course will be archived at 11:59 p.m. on the end date).
- Choose your time zone and click Continue.
- Step 3 – Set student access properties.
- Make course available to students – Select Yes unless you want to prevent access.
- Set a password – Optional setting and not necessary for most courses. (Requires that students enter a password before getting access to the course.)
- Enable Pearson Tutor Services – Select Yes to give students access to 24/7 tutoring.
- Enable Noodle Bibliography Builder – Select Yes to give students access to notetaking and citation tools.
- Step 4 – Copy course properties.
- Make course public – Select Yes to allow other MCL instructors to copy or link to your course.
- Course copy availability – Select whether other instructors can copy or link to your course. (This option is available only if you selected Yes for "Make course public."
- Step 5 — Copy Assignments. If this new course is a copy or a link to an existing course, select the original course's assignments that you want in the new course.
NOTE! Assignments included in copied or linked courses need to be activated. Look up assignments, setup of in the online Help index for further details.
- Step 6 – After you click continue MyCompLab displays all of your course settings. Review and edit the settings as needed, then click Continue. MyCompLab creates the course and displays the congratulations page. Note the Course ID at the top of the page.
Important: Your students need the course ID in order to join your course. You need to distribute the Course ID to your students.

How to create an assignment
- Follow the Login instructions above.
- Click the Assignments tab.
- Click Create Assignment.
- Choose the type of assignment you'd like to create (Composition, Collaboration, Peer Review, Portfolio, Skill Building or Diagnostics).
- Click Continue.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the assignment details, including title, prompt, start date, end date and other information as appropriate (NOTE! Each assignment requires different information but uses the same wizard to build assignments.)
